Conscious Recovery, a nationally recognized behavioral health treatment modality, was invited to speak at Recover-Con this year!
Founder & CEO of Conscious Recovery TJ Woodward travelled to Dixon, IL to speak at Recover-Con 22. The goal of the Northern Illinois Recover-Con event is to bring our community into greater alignment in awareness, prevention and treatment of substance use disorders and the support and advocacy of recovery.
Recover-Con is Illinois’ largest and most comprehensive Recovery Conference focusing on building the Recovery Community on all sides. 31 National and Local leaders will present on relevant and timely topics such as; Supporting Recovery Through National Policy, Police Deflection Summit, Recovery Friendly Workplace Panel, Fair Housing Act and Sober Living Homes, Peer Coaching and Recovery Capital, Client First Approach to Treatment, and Harm Reduction in Today’s World.
TJ Woodward spoke on behalf of Conscious Recovery. It is an honor to take part in such beautiful events whose mission is to bridge the gap between the suffering person and the help they need & deserve. We love offering professionals insight into the Conscious Recovery method, namely the 3 root causes of addictive behavior: unresolved trauma, toxic shame, and spiritual disconnection.
We look forward to participating in more events like this, and are eternally grateful for the team at Recover-Con for being so welcoming.

It Started as a Book
5 years ago TJ Woodward founded Conscious Recovery and the Conscious Recovery Method. When Conscious Recovery was published, the response from people in recovery and professionals in the field was overwhelming. TJ then began to ask “what would it create if treatment programs could use Conscious Recovery to support their entire program?”. TJ created Conscious Recovery curriculum and started introducing it to treatment programs in the Bay Area. Conscious Recovery has since expanded to 4 dedicated team members, 4 founding partners, a 3 person advisory board, and is used in over 30 treatment centers nationwide.
Now it’s so Much More.
Conscious Recovery started as a book only a few short years ago, and has expanded to include a suite of products and services to support the behavioral health field at large.
Conscious Recovery Tracks:

Conscious Recovery Experience Training:

The Conscious Recovery Training is vastly different than typical clinical trainings. One of the very first instructions during the training is to put down notebooks and pens, as the training is something to be EXPERIENCED rather than LEARNED. In the one-day training, treatment center employees are introduced to the founding principles and practices of Conscious Recovery, and together they learn the mechanics behind holding space, the impact of how clients are viewed, and how to facilitate Conscious Recovery process groups. The in-person trainings at treatment centers are often regarded more as self-care than clinical training, and staff express their gratitude for the experiential approach Conscious Recovery takes.
